1. What Is Considered Unusual Activity?

Unusual or suspicious activity may include, but is not limited to:

  • Accounts posting spam, fake links, or misleading content;

  • Sudden changes in behaviour such as repeated posting of offensive, hateful, or violent content;

  • Attempts to impersonate other users or SomaliComment staff;

  • Unauthorized access or hacking attempts on your account;

  • Messages requesting personal information, money, or login credentials;

  • Coordinated trolling, harassment, or misinformation campaigns;

  • Any activity that appears fraudulent, manipulative, or intended to disrupt community discussions.

If you’re unsure whether something is unusual, it’s always best to report it. Our moderation team will review it confidentially.

2. How to Report Unusual Activity

To help us investigate effectively, please include as much information as possible when submitting your report:

  1. Your name or username (optional if you prefer to stay anonymous).

  2. A clear description of the activity or behaviour you are reporting.

  3. Links, usernames, or screenshots showing the issue.

  4. Date and time when the activity occurred.

  5. Any other relevant details or context that might help our review team.

3. What Happens After You Report

Once a report is received, our moderation and safety teams will:

  • Acknowledge your report within a reasonable timeframe;

  • Review the information and assess whether it violates SomaliComment’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Use;

  • Take appropriate action, which may include removing content, suspending accounts, or referring the matter to relevant authorities if necessary; and

  • Notify you (if applicable) once a resolution or action has been taken.

All reports are treated confidentially, and we do not disclose the identity of reporting users unless required by law.

4. Protecting Your Account

If you believe your account has been compromised, we recommend taking the following steps immediately:

  • Change your password and enable two-step verification (if available);

  • Avoid clicking unknown links or sharing personal information;

  • Review your account settings and remove any suspicious activity;

  • Contact SomaliComment Support if you are unable to access your account.

Our support team is available to guide you through the recovery process and ensure your account’s safety.

5. Misuse of the Reporting System

Submitting false or misleading reports can disrupt investigations and may result in account suspension.

Please ensure that your report is made in good faith and based on genuine concerns.
